HI kizzy, yea been pretty stormy, but we have been lucky in Hervey bay, cos its protected by Frazer island but the rains been pretty intense, I have a very wet soggy wall in my studio but that's it. Haven't bought the paper yet but I am assuming a lot will be without electricity, queenslanders are resilient they are so use to the tropical storms it something you expect like nice spring rain every spring lol And the lightning can be spectacular, just sitting on the veranda watching it, is like going to the movies.

Wow guys i just went to the nine news and i must have slept through it, I cant believe it, It looks like it hit Brisbane cos the poor 20 year old guy that got swept away was at chermside that in Brisbane and its gone as far as sunshine coast,
bubbles should be fine cos he lives in Maryborough and that 25 minute drive from here, I don't think Marybourough has been affected.

Hey Ralf, well then you would understand how bad they can get up here sometimes, and how scary!!!!!!but my place is ok thank god just an old tree fell in the backyard, bloody hell wish it was this damn huge Palm tree i have right at the end of my deck? but knowing my luck it would fall towards the house as they seem to do?
Sad but some people have lost everything, they say it was like a mini cyclone....and it felt like one too!wave

Hi Phae, those palms are dangerous coz they only have little root systems holding them in the ground. When I was living in Ayr, we went through cyclones Charlie & Joy. We had 13, 30mtr high, 1-2mtr round palms next to our house and we lost a couple of them, thankfully only one hit the house and it was only enough to knock the corner off. If it had of landed squarely on the house, we would have been in a lot of trouble! uh oh!

Glad to hear you're fine kiss

AYR????
My home town - grew up in Clare, just 20 miles up the river and cyclones were an anual event, sometimes we were lucky enough to get 2, they always meant at least one day off school for us and the spectacualr sight of the brudekin river (About a mile wide) rising at 6 ft an hour. Had to be seen to be believed.

Summer storms always seemed to cause more damage back then than the cyclones, although in 59 we had one split just off the coast and got two within a three day period.
Exciting stuff for primary schoolers.
Experienced a couple at sea in the 60s, now that made one sit up and take notice i can tell you.

I was in the outskirts of Cairns out at Woree/Bayview Heights. I moved there in Grade 10 so that must have been 1989 and left in 1995. I love it up there, but just too expensive with the freight and tourist dollar on everything. I really miss the lifestyle, weather, humidity, rugby league and Malanda Milk! The milk down here sucks. I hate the cold, brrr. I still have relatives up there in Mareeba, Longreach and Collinsville. conversing
